For more than 30 years LACCA has stood beside people going through cancer treatment, and beside their families, taking care of everything that falls outside the hospital. Nothing is ever charged, to anyone.
LACCA, Liga Araraquarense de Combate ao Câncer, is a Brazilian non-profit association founded in 1990. It is not a hospital, not a laboratory and not a government welfare office. Treatment itself is provided by the Brazilian public health system, the SUS.
LACCA takes care of what the treatment does not cover, and what families in treatment cannot afford. Its entire board works as volunteers, and most board members have faced cancer closely, with someone they love.
LACCA is not funded by any government. It stands on three legs:
A two-floor second-hand store run by LACCA. People donate furniture, clothes, books, records and appliances; the store sells them and every cent goes back into patient care. This is what keeps LACCA independent.
Regular people, local companies, schools and churches in Araraquara and the region.
From the board to the campaign days, a large part of the work is done by people who are not paid for it.
If you are a company, a foundation or an individual outside Brazil and you want to support this work, please get in touch before transferring anything. International transfers to Brazilian non-profits need specific banking details, and we want to make sure your donation arrives in full and is properly receipted.
Donors inside Brazil can give instantly by Pix on the Portuguese site. Pix is a domestic payment system and does not work from abroad.
LACCA is a registered non-profit association under Brazilian law, with its statute filed at the civil registry of Araraquara. Its board is elected and serves without pay. Institutional documents are published on the Portuguese site, and any specific document can be requested by email.
